3. CGI


CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface and helps in creating dynamic files or web pages.
CGI scripting refers to writing a programme that will control how a website's content can be displayed to visitors on a website.

For instance, it can be seen in search engine pages where one types in a query and the search engine responds by displaying the results pages.

Many HTML pages that contain forms use a CGI programme to process the form's data once it's submitted.
4. CSS

Another hot skill for IT pros is Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

The language is used to describe the look and formatting of a document written in a markup language. In most simple words, CSS adds adding style like fonts, colours, spacing to Web documents.

CSS' most common application is to style Web pages written in HTML and XHTML. The language can also be applied to any kind of XML document including SVG and XUL.
5. HTML/DHTML/XHTML


HTML is the most commonly used programming language for the Web for static web pages. The Hyper Text Markup language was written specifically for the Internet for websites to display information.

XHTML is similar to HTML but follows the rules of XML. The main difference between HTML and XHTML is the case-sensitivity, the need to use closing tags for all tags and the need to use quotes around all attribute values.

Dynamic HTML (DHTML) is a combination of technologies use to make Web pages dynamic. In simple terms, Dynamic HTML means a combination of HTML 4.0, Style Sheets and JavaScript. It is commonly used to describe advanced JavaScript.
6. JavaScript


JavaScript is another much-in demand skillset for IT pros this year. The programming language is primarily used to make web pages interactive. Javascript support is built right into Web browsers.

In simple words, JavaScript is a language that makes websites interact with their readers and respond to them.
7. JavaServer Pages


JavaServer Pages (JSP) technology helps in creating dynamic web content.

It enables development of Web-based applications that are platform independent. The technology enables web designers to change the overall page layout without altering the underlying dynamic content.
8. PERL

PERL (Practical Extraction and Reporting Language) is a dynamic programming language used most widely on the Internet.

Designed initially to make report processing easier, PERL now provides many tools for complicated problems including systems programming.

Largely influenced by C, PERL has adopted many popular programming languages including awk, sed and Lisp.
9. SAP Web Application Server (WAS)


SAP Web Application Server is the application platform of the SAP NetWeaver, which is the basis for the other NetWeaver components.

SAP Web Application Server lets implement both server-based and client-based Web applications. Server applications like online shops or portals can be created in the integrated development environment or in an external tool.

These applications can contain Web pages as well as static HTML code and dynamic script code.
